Nairobi: Ranked as Africa’s fourth-largest city, Nairobi exudes vibrancy and excitement. Despite its reputation for brief tourist visits, the city boasts captivating attractions, including a lively café culture, vibrant nightlife, the National Museum, and the intriguing Karen Blixen Museum. Remarkably, a mere 20 minutes from the city center, Nairobi hosts the world’s only urban game reserve, where wild lions and buffalo roam freely.

Samburu National Preserve: Nestled on the fringe of northern Kenya’s savannah, the Samburu reserve, though rugged and semi-desert, thrives with diverse landscapes. Positioned along the Ewaso Ngiro River, it is one of three interconnected game reserves. Despite not being the most renowned, Samburu offers exceptional game viewing with its mix of savannahs and forests, hosting all the big cats and featuring a unique ‘Samburu Big 5,’ which includes the Grevy’s zebra, long-necked gerenuk, Beisa oryx, reticulated giraffe, and Somali ostrich.

Masai Mara Reserve: The Masai Mara Game Reserve is well-known for its incredible big game experiences and extensive selection of luxury safari camps. It is the original safari destination that began the fascination and obsession with Africa; the stories of its legendary game viewing and migrations having been passed down through the generations. Enjoy the opportunity of game viewing, cultural interactions, and breathtaking landscapes during your time in this area.

Amboseli National Park: In the shadows of Mount Kilimanjaro in Tanzania lays the Amboseli National Park in Kenya. This park is known to be the best chance of viewing of free-ranging, big-tusked elephants with Mount Kilimanjaro standing proud in the back. Depending on your visit, you may experience the wonders of the flooding of the park basins which draws in hordes of wildlife of many different species.

Samburu National Preserve:

Sasaab Safari Lodge: Situated near the Buffalo Springs National Reserves in Kenya’s Northern Frontier District, Sasaab embodies rich natural diversity, hosting a plethora of wildlife, from majestic elephants to lions, leopards, and the unique Samburu Special Five—Beisa oryx, reticulated giraffe, Grevy’s zebra, Gerenuk antelope, and Somali ostrich. Masai Mara Reserve:

Ol Donyo Lodge: Ol Donyo Lodge, nestled on the Maasai-owned Mbirikani Group Ranch, spans 111,000 hectares of wilderness between Amboseli and Tsavo National Parks, with striking views of Mount Kilimanjaro. As one of Kenya’s three Relais & Chateaux properties, the lodge offers a harmonious blend of contemporary and rustic accommodation, featuring eight pool suites and a two-bedroom family suite. Since every itinerary is custom designed for you and your group, pricing may vary based on year booked, accommodations chosen, change in activities, and adjustments to the itinerary. All costs will be shared with you during the safari planning process – we don’t like surprise expenses ourselves, so we don’t want them for you!

Trip insurance is highly recommended to protect your investment on this trip. We will assist you with trip insurance upon booking. See links at the bottom of this page for the two providers we suggest for our clients.

Family Expeditions Safaris, LLC confirmation and refund policy:

If your trip is more than 90 days out from date of departure, a 30% non-refundable deposit confirms your reservation and must be received within 10 days of booking to confirm your dates. All trips must be paid in full at least 120 days prior to the departure date. If your trip date is within 120 days, FULL payment for the trip is required. All payments to Family Expeditions Safaris are non-refundable. Should you need to reschedule or cancel your trip, we will do everything in our power to assist you in finding a suitable substitute or transferring your dates per the lodge/providers/government requirements. Trip insurance protects your investment!
